Ali Khamenei laid to rest at Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was buried along with four members of his family at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, Iranian media reported. According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, Khamenei’s body, along with those of four family members, was laid to rest at the shrine on Friday morning (19 Saratan). Funeral ceremonies for Khamenei were held over the past week in Tehran, Qom, Karbala, Najaf, and Mashhad. Reports said Mojtaba Khamenei, who was introduced as Iran’s new leader following his father’s death, did not attend any of the funeral ceremonies. However, his three other sons — Mostafa, Meysam, and Masoud Khamenei — attended the funeral and mourning prayers. Media reports added that Mostafa Khamenei, his eldest son, led the funeral prayer before the burial. Ali Khamenei died four months ago, on the first day of the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
