KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) has warned of relatively heavy rainfall and possible flash floods in parts of the country over the next two days. In a post on X on Thursday, the ministry said relatively heavy rainfall and flash floods were forecast from August 7 to 8 in areas within the Kabul River basin and some associated catchment areas. According to the ministry, rising water levels and flooding are expected along rivers in Paktika, Khost, Paktia, Logar, Kabul, Laghman, Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan provinces, as well as in some associated catchment areas. The ministry urged residents in the affected areas to avoid approaching riverbanks during floods or periods of high water. It also called on people to alert downstream communities about flooding or rising river levels to help prevent loss of life.
