Gold price up, other commodity rates unchanged in Kabul — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Gold prices increased while prices of other essential commodities remained unchanged in Kabul during the outgoing week, market sources said on Saturday. Mohammad Fawad, owner of a jewellery shop in Kabul, said one gram of 750-carat Arab gold sold for 7,700 afs, up from 7,330 afs a week ago, while one gram of 585-carat Russian gold sold for 6,120 afs, compared with 5,840 afs a week earlier. Gold traders said fluctuations in Kabul’s gold prices are linked to changes in international gold markets. Haji Mohammad Hussain, owner of a currency exchange shop in Kabul’s Shahzada Market, said one US dollar sold for 64.70 afs today, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees sold for 227 afs. On August 15, one US dollar sold for 65.30 afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees also sold for 227 afs. Hikmatullah Muhammadi, an employee at a fuel station in Kabul’s Wazirabad area, told Pajhwok Afghan News that petrol sold for 80 afs and diesel for 75 afs per litre today, unchanged from a week ago. Mohammad Jan Amin, a shopkeeper in Kabul’s Deh-i-Bagh area, said one kilogram of liquefied gas sold for 67 afs, also unchanged from last Saturday.
