Helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia kills 2, Houthis claim Apache downing — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): A Saudi-led coalition has said a reconnaissance helicopter crashed in the Najran region due to a technical fault, killing its two crew members, while the Houthis claim they shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter in the area. Reuters reported that coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement on Sunday that the helicopter had crashed due to a technical fault. The statement said the incident occurred in an area under the jurisdiction of Saudi Arabia’s National Guard Ministry. Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a post on X on Saturday that the group had shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter near Najran. In response to Saree’s claim, Al-Maliki posted an image of several Apache helicopters on X on Sunday, writing: “You claim to have shot it down, but this helicopter will soon enter the battlefield,” Reuters reported. Najran, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, has been targeted by Houthi attacks in recent weeks, the report added.
