KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has described Pakistan’s recent decision regarding Afghan medical students as regrettable and “inhumane”, saying Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) is ready to help returning students continue their studies from where they left off. Addressing the “Government in the Mirror of the Media” conference at the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC) on Wednesday, IEA Chief Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Pakistan’s decision to encourage some Afghan medical students to leave the country and impose restrictions on them was regrettable. “The action unfortunately taken in Pakistan regarding medical students, where some have been encouraged to leave and restrictions have been imposed on them, is regrettable and completely inhumane,” Mujahid said. He called on Pakistan to reconsider the decision, adding that the MoHE was prepared to accommodate Afghan students returning from Pakistan and enable them to continue their studies at the level they had reached. “We call for this decision to be reconsidered. Secondly, in Afghanistan, MoHE is fully prepared to ensure that students who return to the country can continue their studies from wherever they had reached and that the necessary capacity is created for them.
