KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has condemned a recent Houthi attack on a Saudi vessel in the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea, stressing the importance of safeguarding international maritime routes and ensuring freedom of navigation. MoFA spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi said in a statement posted on his X account that the Islamic Emirate condemns the attack and reiterated its support for the security of international maritime corridors, free navigation, and the uninterrupted flow of global trade. The statement emphasized that such routes must remain protected from any threats or disruptions. The ministry also urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint, avoid actions that could escalate tensions or further fuel conflict, and resolve disputes through dialogue and peaceful means. It added that such an approach would help strengthen regional security, stability, and peace.
