IEA supreme leader stresses unity, strengthening of Islamic system — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada has emphasised the need to strengthen the Islamic system, promote religious guidance, prevent vice and reinforce unity. He made the remarks at a meeting with a group of religious scholars in southern Kandahar province, IEA deputy spokesman Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat wrote on his X account. Fitrat said Akhundzada addressed a gathering of religious scholars from Kandahar city and the province’s districts, organised to strengthen and consolidate the Islamic system. The IEA supreme leader said religious scholars bore a significant responsibility for conveying, explaining and defending Islam, as well as providing religious guidance to the public. He urged them to work with determination to prevent vice and eliminate un-Islamic practices, saying the current environment offered a valuable opportunity to implement Islamic law and serve the religion. He said religious scholars throughout history had worked under difficult circumstances to preserve and promote Islam and Islamic law. Quoting Akhundzada, Fitrat said Allah had entrusted the protection of Islam to both religious scholars and rulers. Rulers were responsible for safeguarding Islam through their authority, while scholars were responsible for explaining and conveying religious teachings.
