KABUL (Pajhwok): Former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan has been transferred back to Adiala Prison after undergoing medical examinations at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported that Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Khan was taken from prison to the hospital on Tuesday night in accordance with a recent order from the Supreme Court. He was examined by a team of doctors, including specialists in eye care, cardiology and general medicine. Tarar said the doctors found Khan’s health condition to be “satisfactory” after the examinations. He was transferred back to Adiala Prison at around 5am on Wednesday, August 20. The minister added that one of Khan’s sisters was present at the hospital during the medical examinations. The transfer followed a Supreme Court order issued on August 18 directing that Khan be taken to Shifa International Hospital for medical examination and treatment. The Pakistani government had sought a review of the court’s order, but the Supreme Court registrar’s office returned the request, saying the documents submitted were incomplete. Khan has been in prison since 2023 and faces several legal cases.
