KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the importance of relations with Pakistan, saying Tehran is ready to expand cooperation with Islamabad in political, economic, trade, cultural and security fields. He made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi in Tehran on Tuesday evening, IRNA reported. Pezeshkian described the Pakistani leadership’s commitment to strengthening solidarity and expanding relations with Iran as highly valuable to Tehran. He called for better use of the existing capacities of the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation, saying Iran was prepared to expand ties in all areas of mutual interest. The Iranian president also stressed the need for stronger economic, trade, cultural and security cooperation, saying closer bilateral relations could help protect the interests of both countries and contribute to regional stability and security. For his part, Naqvi expressed satisfaction with his meeting with Pezeshkian and said his visit to Tehran was aimed at following up on agreements and understandings reached during the recent visit of Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to Pakistan. Naqvi reaffirmed the longstanding and close relationship between Iran and Pakistan, saying the ties between the two countries were strong and unbreakable.
