Iran preparing to unveil weapon it calls ‘Father of All Bombs’ — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran is preparing to unveil a new weapon described as the “Father of All Bombs”, but has not disclosed details about its type or capabilities, a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said. “We are in the stage of preparing to unveil the ‘Father of All Bombs’. This is something new for the enemy,” the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported, quoting Hossein Mohebi. Mohebi also claimed that Iran’s missile capabilities had improved since the 12-day war, with its missile stockpile increasing by at least 50 per cent. He said the range, accuracy, destructive power and precision-guidance capabilities of Iran’s missiles had also increased significantly. The IRGC spokesperson further claimed that the Strait of Hormuz was completely closed and that Tehran would not allow US and Israeli warships to pass through the waterway. He said US warships had left the Strait of Hormuz and were now hundreds of kilometres away. Mohebi added that the limited passage of some vessels through the strait did not mean the route was open, insisting that no ship could pass without Iran’s permission. The remarks come amid continuing military tensions between Iran and the United States.
