Irshad crowned champions of Maidan Wardak volleyball tournament — Pajhwok

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Irshad team has won the title of a volleyball tournament featuring 50 teams in central Maidan Wardak province after defeating Malangyar Club in the final. Zabihullah Wahaj, director of the Olympic, Physical Education and Sports Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two-week competition was held in Sayedabad district with the participation of 50 teams from across the province. He said Irshad team defeated Malangyar Club by 2-0 in straight sets in the final to claim the championship title. He added the tournament was organised to promote volleyball, strengthen unity among young people and provide opportunities for healthy sporting competition. Irshad team player Abdul Rahman said the team has trained extensively for the tournament. He added: “We are delighted that our hard work paid off and we won the championship. We hope such competitions continue so that more young people are encouraged to take up sport.” Meanwhile, Malangyar Club player Habibullah said although his team fell short in the final, participating in the tournament had been a valuable experience. “We gained valuable experience and will try to prepare even better for future competitions.” He added that such tournaments not only helped improve athletes’ abilities but also strengthened cooperation and promoted a culture of healthy competition among young people.
