KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 51 Palestinians were injured after Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid on the Qalandia refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. Israeli forces on Thursday demolished several commercial shops near the Qalandia checkpoint, according to Al Jazeera. They later imposed a curfew on the nearby town of Kafr Aqab and blocked all roads leading to Jerusalem. Palestinian sources said dozens of people were also detained during the operation. The raid began after Israeli forces entered the Qalandia camp and launched a large-scale operation to search homes and demolish some commercial facilities. Palestinian officials said the injured suffered gunshot wounds, injuries from beatings and the effects of tear gas. Some were taken to medical facilities for treatment. The operation comes amid an increase in attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank in recent weeks, raising concerns over further escalation of violence in the area, Al Jazeera reported. Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, Israeli military operations in the West Bank have also intensified, resulting in repeated casualties and widespread arrests of Palestinians.
