MoFA condemns woman’s killing on Tajikistan border — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has condemned the killing of a woman by gunfire from the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, saying it would not allow Afghan territory to be used to create disorder or undermine security. MoFA spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said in a post on X that the ministry expressed condolences and sympathy to the woman’s family and the people of Tajikistan following her death in Dashtak village, Darwaz district, in Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. He said the woman was killed by gunfire from the border area between the two countries. Balkhi said reports had recently emerged of attempts by some “destructive and opportunistic” individuals to create disorder in parts of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province. He said such efforts were aimed at undermining regional security and stability, particularly the atmosphere of trust between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. He stressed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) remained committed to maintaining security and stability, good-neighbourly relations and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries. Balkhi added that the IEA would not allow anyone to use Afghan territory to create disorder or undermine security.
