MoMP sign 106m afs barite mining contract in Parwan — Pajhwok
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) says it has signed a five-year contract with a private company for the extraction and processing of a barite mine in central Parwan province. In a statement, the ministry said the 106 million afghanis contract was signed on Monday with Nabi Afghan Mining Extraction and Processing Company. According to the statement, the mine covers an area of 11.27 hectares. Under the terms of the agreement, the government will receive a royalty of 850 afghanis per tonne of extracted barite. The ministry said the project is expected to create employment opportunities for around 300 people through mining and processing activities. It added that the company had also established a processing plant in Afghanistan to process the extracted barite.
