KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) and the Chamber of Industries and Mines (ACIM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint-stock company to pool the capital of traders, industrialists and investors and finance major projects. According to a statement from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the MoU was signed today (Tuesday) at the Government Media and Information Centre in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund. Speaking at the ceremony, Baradar said the establishment of the joint-stock company would play an important role in implementing major economic and infrastructure projects and promoting investment. He said the initiative was an effort to create an organised and practical mechanism for supporting the country’s economic future. The deputy prime minister said the private sector had an important role alongside the Islamic Emirate in promoting economic growth and could make significant contributions to increasing production, creating jobs, expanding exports and financing major projects. He added that the company would pool the capital of traders, industrialists and investors under an organised, legal and transparent framework and use it jointly to finance major projects.
