KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved 13 projects worth 1.3 billion afghanis, endorsed amendments to 16 others and cancelled the contract for one project, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs said on Thursday. In a statement, the office said the commission’s regular meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. According to the statement, 34 projects were presented for review. After deliberations, the commission approved 13 projects worth 1.3 billion afghanis and endorsed amendments to 16 others. The commission also cancelled the contract for one project and tasked designated committees with reviewing the procurement process and pricing of four other projects before submitting their findings to the commission’s leadership. The approved and amended projects include construction of a hospital in Jani Khil district of Paktia province, provision of telecommunications services in several provinces, electricity transmission and distribution projects, construction of internal roads in Kabul and completion of remaining works on these projects. It said all approved projects would be funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
