KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice says more than 1,500 jeribs of land in Kabul’s Omaid-i-Sabz township has been confirmed as state-owned under a Sharia ruling by a special government court. In a statement on Monday, the ministry said the Special Court for State Seized Land Cases in the Central Zone ruled on March 21, 2026, after thoroughly reviewing documents, evidence and information from various institutions, that 1,507.49 jeribs of land in Kabul’s sixth and 13th districts, known as Omaid-i-Sabz township, belonged to the state. According to the ministry, the land was surveyed and registered in five cadastral plots in the name of the state and had not been transferred to any individual or legal entity. The ministry said the court ordered the land to be handed over to the Commission for Prevention of Land Grabbing and Recovery of Seized Lands. It added that buyers, who are the current occupants of the land, could approach the sellers to recover the amount they had paid for the land and seek compensation for their losses. The ministry said the commission was responsible for implementing the Sharia rulings of the special court dealing with cases involving seized state land.
