KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) has returned 54 tonnes of substandard imported tiles to the exporting country. In a statement, the authority said the 54-tonne shipment, loaded in a railway wagon, had been identified as substandard following the required inspections and quality assessments and was therefore returned to the exporting country. It said the action was part of ongoing efforts to monitor the quality of construction materials and prevent substandard products from entering Afghan markets. ASQA stressed that inspections and quality control of imported goods continued at all border crossings and that it would prevent the import of any substandard products posing a threat to public health, safety or the public interest.
