73 injured in Houthi attacks on Saudi cities — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Houthi attacks on several Saudi cities injured 73 people, including women and children, on Tuesday, according to Saudi officials. The attacks early Tuesday targeted “civilian and economic facilities” in the Saudi cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, the Associated Press reported. Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen, said 73 civilians, including women and children, were injured in the attacks. He did not provide further details about their condition. Al-Malki described the attacks as a “serious escalation” and a “flagrant violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty”, saying they posed a direct threat to the security and safety of Saudi citizens and residents. The Houthis did not immediately comment on the attacks but said they would issue a statement on a “large-scale military operation” deep inside Saudi Arabia. Nasruddin Amer, deputy head of the Houthi media office, meanwhile, said attacks against the people of Yemen would not go unanswered. The attacks came as fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces has intensified in recent weeks, according to the Associated Press. The report said a ceasefire that had lasted for about four years had collapsed, with fighting continuing on several fronts, including along Yemen’s western coast.
