KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s Defence Minister Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid has visited several border and strategic areas in northeastern Badakhshan province. According to a statement from the ministry, Mujahid visited Karan wa Manjan district, the Zibak (Topkhana) area, as well as the Wakhan Corridor and Pamir districts, among other key locations. The statement said he also inspected important strategic border areas linking Afghanistan with China, Tajikistan and the Durand Line. During the visit, Mujahid assessed the activities and readiness of border forces, praised their efforts and stressed that protecting the country’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty and borders is a shared responsibility of all security and defence forces. He added that efforts would be made to enhance the capabilities of border forces, improve coordination, and provide necessary facilities.
