KABUL (Pajhwok): A 57-year-old feud between two families in the southeastern Khost province has been resolved through mediation by tribal elders and religious scholars, the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs (MoBTA) said on Tuesday. In a statement, the ministry said Provincial Director of Borders and Tribal Affairs Mawlawi Mia Mohammad Wali Sediqi told a ceremony held to mark the reconciliation that it was the 120th successful reconciliation case in the province achieved through the efforts of tribal elders and mediators. He called on tribal elders to step up efforts to resolve existing problems and disputes in different areas. Officials said that during the 57-year feud, the two sides suffered heavy financial losses and had numerous disputes, resulting in the death of one person. The officials said that through their mediation, the parties involved met, accepted reconciliation, ended their feud and pledged to uphold peace and brotherhood.
