Petrol, diesel, flour and gold prices rise in Kabul — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of petrol, diesel, flour and gold increased, while the price of sugar declined and the value of the US dollar rose against the afghani during the outgoing week in Kabul markets. Hekmatullah Mohammadi, an employee at the Wazirabad fuel station in Kabul, told Pajhwok that compared with seven days earlier, the price of one litre of petrol increased from 78 afghanis to 80 afghanis, while diesel rose from 73 afghanis to 75 afghanis. Mohammad Jan Amin, a shopkeeper in Kabul’s Dahan-i-Bagh area, said one kilogram of liquefied gas was sold for 67 afghanis. Fuel dealers attributed the increase in prices to changes in oil imports from Iran. Zamari Safi, head of the Food Traders Union in Kabul, said the wholesale price of a 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar decreased from 2,770 afghanis to 2,650 afghanis, while the price of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakh flour increased from 1,550 afghanis to 1,600 afghanis. According to Safi, the prices of other essential food items remained stable, with a 24-kilogram bag of Indian rice selling for 2,500 afghanis, a 16-litre bottle of Malaysian cooking oil for 2,000 afghanis, one kilogram of African black tea for 380 afghanis and one kilogram of Indonesian green tea for 350 afghanis.
