KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 16 people have been killed and more than 130 wounded after several Russian drones struck a shopping centre in central Ukraine, authorities said, with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy vowing a response to what he described as an “act of barbarism.” Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said 22 children were among those wounded in Friday’s daytime attack on Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskiy’s hometown, Reuters reported. “Twenty-nine people are in serious condition, including five children,” Hanzha said. He also posted a photo showing black smoke rising from a large industrial building. In an update early Saturday, Hanzha said nine people, including two children, were preliminarily reported missing as rescuers continued clearing rubble from the shopping centre. Zelenskiy condemned the attack as “absolutely cynical and despicable,” saying a second Russian drone struck the shopping centre about 30 minutes after the first attack in what he described as a deliberate attempt to target emergency responders. “Attacks like these are nothing less than terrorist acts,” Zelenskiy said on Telegram, calling on the international community to hold Russia accountable. “We will definitely respond.” In a separate attack on Friday, at least four people, including three children, were killed and a woman was wounded in a Russian drone strike in Ukraine’s southern Mykolaiv region, Ukrainian state media reported.
