MoVV bans fireworks at weddings, other celebrations — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints (MoVV) has imposed a total ban on fireworks and other items that cause fear, disturbance or psychological distress at weddings and other celebrations. In a statement, the ministry said the ban applied to all citizens, shopkeepers, importers, manufacturers, sellers and anyone directly or indirectly involved in the production, import, sale, purchase, distribution or use of fireworks and similar items. The MoVV said public peace, well-being, psychological security and respect for people’s rights were essential to a healthy and orderly society. It added that celebrations should be held in accordance with Islamic guidance and Sharia principles and should not involve activities that cause fear or distress among children, women, elderly people, patients and other citizens. The ministry urged citizens to cooperate in enforcing the ban and refrain from using fireworks or other items that threaten public peace and psychological security at weddings and other celebrations. It also called on citizens, shopkeepers, importers, manufacturers and sellers to fulfil their responsibilities and refrain from producing, importing, selling or distributing the prohibited items.
