KABUL (Pajhwok): The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered up to $5 million for information leading to the location and return of Afghan-American Mahmoud Shah Habibi, while the Islamic Emirate insists he is not imprisoned in Afghanistan. The FBI said on Monday night that it was offering up to $5 million for information leading to Habibi’s location and return. According to reports, Habibi is an Afghan-American citizen and former head of Afghanistan’s Civil Aviation Authority. He was reportedly detained near his home in Kabul in August 2022, along with his driver and 29 employees of the Asia Consultancy Group. Sources said all those detained, except Habibi and one other person, were later released. However, no contact has been established with Habibi since his detention. Responding to US concerns over Habibi, IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said officials had told their American counterparts during direct meetings that no person named Habibi was being held in an Afghan prison. Mujahid stressed that if Mahmoud Shah Habibi were being held in Afghanistan, the issue would have been resolved by now.
